15 Year Old on Curtis Cup Team

In 2004, a 16 year old amateur golfer named michelle wie represented the United States in the Curtis Cup competition.
The Curtis Cup is the women's equivalent of the Walker Cup for men.
This year, the biennial competition visits St. Andrew's for the first time in its history.
And a Scottish golfer will best Michelle Wie by one year.
Her name is Carly Booth and at the tender age of 15 she becomes the youngest ever player from Great Britain to compete in the tournament's 74 year history.
Booth has some interesting lineage. Her dad used to be a bouncer for the Beatles (on account of the fact he was a past British wrestling champion) and since I've been a Beatles addict since I saw them perform on the Ed Sullivan show in, what, 1964, that fact alone impresses me.
But it's her golf game that has earned her a spot on the Curtis Cup team. When Carly was just 8, she carried a bonafide handicap of 18. That is a world record right there.
In 2007, the Scottish lass captured the under-18 and under-21 Scottish titles. Her score? 9 under, 63.
Her talent will be sorely needed on the Great Britain and Ireland squad. It has lost to the United States five consecutive times in the last decade.
