An Interview With Sandra Post
Filed in archive Golf News by Chris Henry on February 20, 2007

When Sandra Post was just 19 years old, she joined the LPGA Tour. That was in 1968.
She turned 20 that season and less than three weeks later, won a major, the LPGA Championship.
She remains the youngest professional golfer, woman or man, to do so. Sandra won a total of 8 times on the LPGA tour. She took Rookie of the Year honors in '68, finished second 20 more times in her career and was the first Canadian to compete on the women's tour.
So you can imagine that someone with all that experience and years on the pro tour would have a lot of stories to tell and have a lot of opinions about the women's game today.
Sandra is still very much involved and in tune with the LPGA Tour despite the fact she has devoted the past 23 years to teaching the game to amateurs in the Greater Toronto Area
and designing women's clubs for Jazz Golf.I had the opportunity to spend several hours with Sandra this week, interviewing her about the tour, then and now, Michelle Wie, the Women's Senior Tour (did you know it existed?) and her own years in the game, including that wonderful rookie year in 1968.
We talked about teaching, equipment, how and why guys like Phil and Tiger can hit a pitching wedge over 150 yards or the diminutive Mexican player, Lorena Ochoa cranks it 275 off the tee.
I recorded the interview and I will be posting segments of it here on eagleparbirdie.com in the days to come. Just give me a few days to go through the material, edit it and package it and I'll be presenting the material with appropriate production values!
We covered a lot in two hours. You can have the benefit, over a number of weeks, of hearing what a veteran, highly successful professional golfer has to say about the game today.
I'll give you lots of heads-up when it's coming and I know you will enjoy the material.
As always, I welcome comments and feedback.
