Daly and Harmon. Again.
Filed in archive Golf News by Chris Henry on April 30, 2008

I tell ya, the more I read about John Daly, the more I really believe we're watching the man wash himself away week by week.
The latest kafuffle involves Daly and his former swing coach, Butch Harmon. Harmon gave up on Daly after Big John was spotted drinking in the hooters
hospitality tent at the PODS Championship where he was "competing".When Harmon caught wind of it, he publicly dumped Daly. Daly was hurt that Harmon hadn't told him in person; Harmon claimed he couldn't reach John for several days.
It seems that the fallout from Daly's latest attempt to play Shakespeare's Falstaff has been costly - Daly has lost all his endorsement deals.
He blames Harmon. But now he says Harmon has apologized to him. When asked for his reaction, Harmon says he certainly did NOT apologize.
An alcoholic is in denial until he enters treatment. It's only at that stage that the alcoholic is ready to start facing his disease.
Daly is still in denial and still blaming others - ex wives, ex swing coaches - for his misfortunes. It is a classic pattern.
And, yes, John Daly is probably one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. But nice guys can be alcoholics, too.
