I'm a big fan of David Feherty. I love his wry humor and his quick wit during his golf commentary.

And for an ex-golfer, he's a pretty good actor in TV commercials, too! In short, the guy is just plain fun to listen to and watch.

As many of us know, he was involved in a serious accident several weeks ago and sustained some pretty nasty injuries.

Feherty's been recuperating at home. Connell Barrett, one of the editors at Golf Magazine, visited the Ulsterman at his house in Dallas to find out how he was doing.

As I read the story, I am reminded of how Norman Cousins, the former editor-in-chief of Saturday Review.

Cousins had a brilliant and perceptive mind; he was also a very sick man. He suffered with heart disease and later in his life, a debilitating form of arthritis.

Yet he outlived doctors' predictions by years and died at the age of 75, 26 years after being diagnosed with heart disease.

His secret was laughter (he also took a lot of Vitamin C). He laughed a lot and he laughed often. And he found that a good belly laugh was a better pain killer than any drug.

I believe David Feherty is cut from the same cloth.

When you read the story in Golf Magazine, I think you'll agree. Feherty is going to heal himself in no time.
