Gilagolf. In the Malay language, it apparently means "golf crazy". Gilagolf is also a new golf blog.
It's the work of Stevie Heong and his playing buddies who were sick of course reviews that didn't offer much in the way of real review.
So Stevie - who is the primary contributor and boss man for Gilagolf - set out to offer golfers in Asia something worthwhile to read when they were looking for a decent course to play.
Of course, Gilagolf isn't just for golfers IN Asia but for any golfers heading TO Asia. And you can be sure if you drop him a line (stevieheong@gmail.com), he'd be happy to offer some critical advice.
Gilagolf is irreverent and amusing but, more to the point, does offer some excellent commentary from the duffer's viewpoint. Give it a read.
And while you're online, check out the various video highlights of the current WGC event in Tucson on The Golf Channel. The GC is doing a fine job of staying on top of the various matches in the various brackets and providing decent play-by-play as well.
I hesitate to recommend the video highlights at pgatour.com largely because I can't stand the high-pitched young blonde woman who fronts their highlights. She's all hype, white teeth and perkiness and for the love of me I can't understand what she has to do with golf.
Anyway, the WGC has been exciting with top seeds falling, lowly seeds pulling out victories and great golf all round.
I don't know how anyone can say they don't like match play. To me, match play is the true essence of the game.
