One of the most beautiful places in the world to play golf - at least in my mind - is the Monterey Peninsula.

Frankly, any place in that part of California is great, whether it's along the coastline or inland in Carmel Valley.

Golf.com has put together a fine list of 10 California layouts where the PGA drops in but where the general public can also play.

The list includes website links, phone numbers, greens fees and photos. A very nice package, indeed.

And a very strong draw to this duffer as I look out the window of my home office and watch another 8 inches of snow coming down...
