Golf Equipment

There's one thing that I, you and hundreds of manufacturers around the world have discovered about ourselves.
We'll buy anything that might have half a chance of helping us hit the ball farther or straighter.
I'm talking about the gimmick, the gizmo, the gadget.
Maybe you attach it to your waist; maybe it fits onto the shaft of your club; maybe you wear it on your head.
If it's going to make the ball go where we want it to, we'll shell out the dough to buy it.
Every year, new products come to market and every year, golfers the world over line up to "buy it and try it". I really wonder how many of us actually send these things back and trigger the "money back guarantee".
We're suckers, plain and simple. I know I am. But I'm a discriminating sucker. For example, I won't buy those tees that look like little brushes (although I did get some for Christmas...that doesn't count).
I'm old enough and wise enough to know that a tee that looks like it could double as a cleaning device probably isn't going to cure my tendency to come over the top.
Having said that, some of the swing aids are actually pretty good and will help.
But a good teaching pro will help a lot more. And that got me to wondering what teaching pros think of swing aids and if they use any of them?
I remember my teacher, Mark Greenwood from Swing Machine Golf, telling me the Momentus was worth the money.
And Paul Wilson, creator of Swing Machine Golf, agrees. "The 7-iron Momentus is about the right weight. Not the driver. It's way too heavy."
Any other aids that work for you, Paul? "The number one training aid in my opinion is the full length mirror so you can watch yourself swing". Very interesting and about $20 at Home Depot!
So, for Paul Wilson, a full length mirror and a 7-iron Momentus (plus Swing Machine Golf, of course!) are his recommendations for the full swing. A very reasonable cash outlay, especially if you find the Momentus on e-Bay!
Paul is quick to add that swing aids are no substitute for the right fundamentals. Wise words.
Tomorrow, I'll pose the same question to sandra Post and see what a former multiple winner on the tour would use.
