Golf Swing Aids Part 2

Got that Momentus yet? Take a look at yesterday's post, if you're wondering what I'm talking about!
Today, we'll continue the conversation about swing aids by checking in with Sandra Post 8 time winner on the LPGA tour and the youngest player to win a major at the age of 20.
"There are so many teaching aids on the market. I am approached several times a season with a new invention or teaching aid. Some are very good, many have been done before and it is just a variation of the original", she told me.
She went on to say her favorites are already in her bag. "Placing two clubs down, parallel to your intended line, will help you visualize taking the club straight forward and straight back. This also helps with alignment".
This way, Sandra said, you can position the ball in between the two clubs and feel "straight back and straight forward" when practicing chips and putts.
"I like watching Vijay Singh on the practice range with all his gadgets, from the shaft in the ground, water bottle and clubhead cover under his left armpit", she continued. "All those simple aids are helping him get the correct training of his muscles. I don't like aids that harness you in". Very sound advice from someone who's won repeatedly on tour.
"So when looking for teaching aids, start with something simple, something you already carry in your golf bag", she went on. "Items that are close at hand could help you hit the ball more consistently. Others items you could use might be towels, tees, golf balls
, visors, pencils - the list goes on. Just use your imagination".I guess the point to remember is this: any swing aid should be used to assist in creating a solid technique.
But solid technique always BEGINS with solid fundamentals. And no device advertised on TV is going to replace solid fundamentals.
Which brings us full-square back to the value of a teaching pro, doesn't it?
