Let The Tournament Begin

The Canadian Open got underway officially yesterday with the traditional pro-am. Canadian Stephen Ames and American Joe Ogilvie and their respective amateur players came out on top.
But today, it's all about the head to head competition as the field takes to Angus Glen North to tackle the design changes made by an absent Davis Love.
Jim Furyk is the defending champion; yesterday, following the pro-am, he talked about his game and his recent success on tour as he looks to defend at the Canadian Open.
You can hear his entire press conference here. It runs just over 24 minutes but it's an instant download from the Royal canadian golf association
's site. Dip in and out at your leisure!Mike Weir also spoke to the media. Weir, along with fellow Canuck Stephen Ames, carries the hopes of Canadians into the tournament.
A Canadian has not won the national championship in 53 years, so there's added pressure for the Canadian players in the field.
Weir came close in 2004, finishing in a tie with his good friend, Vijay Singh. Singh won in the ensuing playoff.
Weir's comments are here.
And speaking of Vijay, he was asked out on the course about what he thought of the tournament and about his friendship with Weir. Vijay is not known as a "Chatty Cathy" around the media, so this is a rare occasion, indeed!
Those comments are here.
