If Tiger Woods is the man to beat in every other tournament in the world, then Ernie Els is the man to beat in every tournament held at Wentworth in England.
Els captured his astounding seventh World Golf Match Play Championship yesterday, 6 and 4 over Angel Cabrera, around Wentworth's West Course.
But Els knows Wentworth so well. He lives in the enormously expensive Wentworth Estate and was literally "walking to work" each morning during the competition. And he re-designed the West Course in 2005, a year he didn't compete because of knee problems.
It has been a long road back for the South African after his knee surgery. A long road. But late this season, he began to look like the Ernie of old. And his win over Cabrera in the gruelling 36 hole final is evidence that he's back on form.
