Golf Interviews
by Chris Henry on March 11, 2007

Nothing heralds spring like a golf show and this weekend saw the Toronto Golf Show open its doors to the public.
Organizers estimate nearly 35 thousand people will pass through the turnstiles in two and a half days.
I spent several hours at the show on Friday and was fortunate enough to see a very unusual site: a guy hitting 134 golf balls in less than two minutes.
His name is Dave Ogron but he goes by the nickname, "Ogie".
Ogie is in his early 40s and has spent his share of years banging around junior circuits and tours trying to make it as a touring pro.
It was while he was going through one particular period of frustration that he discovered his ability to hit balls very quickly.
That has turned out to be Ogie's trump card and now, he travels throughout North America and around the world, exhibiting his skills, setting Guinness World Records and raising money for charity.
Ogie has appeared on The david letterman show, The Early Show on CBS, even CCTV, China's state television broadcaster, in Beijing.
When I saw Ogie, he was trying to beat his own world mark of hitting 133 golf balls in two minutes. His target was 134.
You have to see the guy in action to really get how hard he works. His arms and shoulders are revolving like a windmill at high speed; his assistant, "Speedy", places the balls just as quickly. Speedy says he's never been hit, even once, by Ogie's whirling club.
Ogie set yet another record. And he did it with ten seconds to spare!
After he had time to catch is breath, I shoved a microphone in his face and what he had to say, you can hear by clicking this link!

He has some video clips on the site, including one from the CBS Morning Show where it was mentioned that he fought alcoholism & depression while playing the tour. It is great to see someone bounce back and use his unique talent to uselfishly help so many others. Inspiring to be sure. Go Ogie Go!!!
