Golf courses and airports don't get along very well. It's about the noise, frankly.

Although that raucous crowd at the FBR Open in Phoenix last SuperBowl weekend could rival most modern airports for noisy conditions.

When golfers travel by air, we often land at the airport, jump in a rental vehicle and head well off into the distance to play.

When the golf is done and it's time to go home, it's back to the airport.

PGATour.com offers an interesting glimpse at a golf course that probably gets overlooked an awful lot by golfers who fly into the adjacent airport.

It's Shannon Golf Club in Ireland and the website story says the airport is a mere chip shot away. Which will make it noisy.

But, hell, it's Ireland! And it's a great way to squeeze in one more round before heading back to reality.
