Slow and Steady Wins the Race

There are those professional golfers who burst onto the scene in a blaze of glory, fade or burn out quickly and disappear.
There are those like John Daly whose blaze of glory is equally brief but who parlay a loopy lifestyle into fat appearance fees and sponsor exemptions.
There are those golfers who come out of college and start doing well on the PGA Tour, with the game to seek a major in their first few seasons on tour.
And then there are those golfers who have game but need to hone the mental side of professional golf.
The timeline for those golfers is as individual as their swings. For some, mental toughness comes quickly and they begin moving up through the tour ranks, spring-boarding from one tour up to another.
But mental toughness is elusive and there is many a golfer with the swing mechanics to win on the PGA Tour but who couldn't handle Monday qualifying.
So, it's back to the lesser tours to work, work, work on the game of golf played in the head.
A fine article on that very subject can be found here revolving around a young Canadian golfer who's cutting his chops on the Canadian Tour and slowly moving onto the Nationwide Tour.
Brad Fritsch is taking it one step at a time, making sure he's got the game on one tour before embarking one rung up the ladder to another tour and greater levels of pressure.
Have a read and next time you grow impatient with your ability to improve quickly, keep Brad Fritsch in mind.
