Gene McClure, 2008 Joe Dey Award Winner
I had the following link dropped in my in-box today. It revolves around this year's USGA award for volunteerism. As most of us know, there's not a professional tournament anywhere on the planet that happens because of the volunteers involved, people who love the game.
You find them in other sports, too. Corner marshals at motor racing events are all volunteers, as well.
This year's USGA award goes to a gentleman named Gene McClure, a southern gentleman from Atlanta who has been giving his time to the game for many years.
It's an uplifting story.
