Tiger, Save Us!
Filed in archive Golf Business by Chris Henry on December 8, 2008

Tiger Woods is still rehabbing his bad knee and generally taking it easy. But he is still the world's top drawing card when it comes to the game of golf.
Australian tour pro, Geoff Ogilvy, is pushing Australian golf officials to lure Tiger back to Australia for the Australian Open and Australian Masters next year.
Even though he hasn't competed since winning the U.S. Open last summer, Woods is still the guy who makes the cash registers go ka-ching at tournaments.
And given the current economic scenario which I am writing about frequently - and will continue to - Tiger's presence is even more critical to sponsors and tournament organizers.
In short, even though Tiger kissed 8 million dollars goodbye recently when General Motors cancelled the last year of their 5 year deal with him, Tiger won't be hurting; he's still in the driver's seat.
His appearance fees will skyrocket and he will be in more demand than ever. But this time, it will be to save a struggling professional game around the world.
